Placenta Encapsulation is the process of preparing your placenta by dehydrating it and turning it into easy-to-consume capsules. Many people choose this method as a natural way to support postpartum recovery by balancing hormones, boosting energy and replenishing nutrients.
Raw Method: The placenta is gently dehydrated without steaming to retain its natural enzymes and nutrients. This method is ideal for those looking for the full potency of their placenta
TCM Method: The placenta is steamed with warming herbs (like ginger and lemon) before being dehydrated. This method is believed to promote energy, support the immune system, and restore balance after childbirth.
Placenta encapsulation is believed to offer numerous benefits, including:
Improved energy levels, Mood stabilisation
Enhanced relaxation and bonding
Improved physical recovery
Increased milk supply
Anemia prevention
Reduced postpartum hairloss
Natural pain relief
Many mums find it to be a helpful, natural option for navigating the postpartum period.
Yes! We follow strict safety and hygiene protocols throughout the entire process, from collection to encapsulation. All tools and equipment are thoroughly sanitised to ensure your safety and peace of mind.
Once you have decided to proceed with placenta encapsulation, simply fill out our booking form, and we can schedule a consultation. After you have given birth, we will arrange a convenient time for placenta collection from your birthing location. (hospital or home)
After submitting the booking form, we will provide you with an email to confirm your details and send important information about the process and any necassary documentation.
Yes, it is important to refrigerate or freeze your placenta after the birth. We will provide you with clear instructions on how to store it safely until we can collect it.
The encapsulation process typically takes 2-3 days, depending on the method chosen. We will notify you when your capsules are ready for pickup or delivery/postage.
On average, you will receive between 180-220 capsules, depending on the size of your placenta. The number may vary slightly, but you will have enough capsules for long term postpartum support.
While many women report positive experiences with placenta encapsulation, there is limited scientific research available on its effectiveness.
Due to the nature of the service, once the placenta encapsulation process has started, refunds are not possible. However, we are happy to discuss any concerns or adjustments before beginning the process.
If stored in a cool, dry place away from sunlight, capsules can last for many months - even years. We’ll include storage guidelines in your delivery pack.
In most cases, encapsulation is still possible as long as the placenta is released and not treated with chemicals. Always inform your healthcare provider of your plans.
We recommend booking by 30–34 weeks to secure your spot and allow time for us to send you a welcome pack and instructions.
We aim to collect your placenta within 12–24 hours after birth. We will arrange collection details when you notify us that your baby has arrived.
No. The capsules are completely tasteless and odourless, just like any herbal supplement. Unless of course, you select flavoured capsules. We offer Grape or Berry flavoured capsules as alternatives.
Most hospitals will allow you to keep your placenta if you request it. We recommend letting your healthcare provider know your wishes during pregnancy and adding it to your birth plan.
While it has grown in popularity recently, placenta consumption has been practised in various cultures for centuries as a way to support postpartum recovery.
Yes. Common pain relief methods like epidurals or gas do not affect your ability to encapsulate. If you received certain medications or antibiotics, encapsulation is usually still possible, but let us know so we can advise.
If your placenta needs to be examined and taken to pathology, you may still be able to encapsulate - this is only on the account that medical staff have taken a small piece from your placenta and not contaminated the entire tissue. If the whole placenta has been taken to pathology, your placenta becomes unsuitable for encapsulation. Always check with your care team, and inform us so we can guide you.
Not at all! The process is completely hygienic and professional. Your placenta is treated with the same care and standards as a food product.
