A Doula is a professional labor support person who provides physical and emotional support to you and your partner during pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period. For instance, a doula might offer: Attention to physical comfort through techniques such as touch and massage and assistance with breathing etc.
PS. Do not refer to me as a Doula in 2024. This is not who I represent anymore and the name doesn't align with my core values as a woman, as a mother and as a birth support person anymore. Birthkeeper, birth worker, birth support hype gal, sister, mama - anything BUT Doula.
Absolutely, depending on your place of birth - policies and procedures differ so I always recommend to ask in hospital settings, how many support persons you are able to have attend your birth.
PS. I am no longer supporting Hospital oriented births. My values, energy and ambitions are with women whom step into the freebirth realm as per May 2023.
Once you are settled in at home with your new baby, I can attend your home and assist and support you and your family in anyway that you need me to. Whether it be general household things, baby settling/sleeping support, breastfeeding support, holding baby while mama sleeps or showers. Whatever I can do to support you and hold space for you, is what I will aim to do.
No. As a Birthkeeper I am here to provide you with non-medicalised, emotional, physical and spiritual support. I can share my own personal experiences and beliefs but I am not in anyway here to medically poach, coach or indoctrinate you. I am here to support you with whatever you choose to do.
YES I do. Depending on the other energies you choose to have at your birth, will depict whether or not I am best suited to your birth space. I am very selective when it comes to saying YES to birth support enquiries - we need to align, we need to clique and we need to understand each other to achieve the best energy for your space.
Absolutely not. It is apart of my role to provide support to not only you as the birthing woman, but to your birth partner too. Birth and labour is a vulnerable time and can be quite an overwhelming time for all involved, I will hold space and advocate for you and more importantly back you as a family from the get go.
Of course! I help and assist with all types of families
Reach out to me if this is something that would cater to you. I am an open book and more than happy to discuss all options with all my clients.
I always recommend to women to book in as soon as you know you are ready - once you are pregnant and thinking about hiring a birth worker to support you in any way, shoot me an email and we will get the ball rolling.
if it is something that you have considered later on in your pregnancy, or perhaps post birth, still always reach out to me as I am a huge advocate for "better late than never" - I will do my best to find space for you but if I am fully booked I will recommend another fully trusted birth worker that may work for you.
I travel all across Melbourne, to Ballarat and Geelong. There are not many places I do not service within my scope. If we work well together and clique, I will do my absolute best to do all in my power to make it a magical experience no matter the distance. I live 50 kilometres north-west of Melbourne CBD and am within a 20 minute drive of Joan Kirner Women & Childrens Hospital and within 10 minutes from Bacchus Marsh Hospital.
Check out my About Section to check out all of the other locations I service frequently.
I ACKNOWLEDGE THE WURUNDJERI PEOPLE, TRADITIONAL AND TRUE CUSTODIANS OF THE LAND ON WHICH I LIVE AND WORK,
AND PAY RESPECTS TO THEIR ELDERS PAST, PRESENT AND EMERGING.
